Single Barrel Bourbon
Wine Enthusiast rating: 88
This Single Barrel Bourbon is deep amber in color, the nose is light and sweet, with traces of mango and papaya. The body is full, and the palate shows a nice, if simple, balance of honey, clover, a slight fruitiness, and a dash of spices. The finish is long and warm.
A well crafted whiskey.
Drink it on the rocks or in a Manhattan.

| Henry McKenna Single Barrel 10 YO Bourbon |
|
|
Henry McKenna 10 -year-old Single Barrel is the only extra-aged Bottled-in-Bond Single Barrel Bourbon in the world, indicating it meets exacting U.S. government standards for age and proof. Every bottle is filled entirely from a single barrel that has aged through 40 Kentucky seasons (10 years). But more important, its taste earns high accolades from connoisseurs themselves. The Spirit Journal writes, "It's on the palate that this Bourbon struts its best stuff. Flavors of charred oak, sweet corn, and spice nicely offset the spirity foundation."
Henry McKenna 10 Year Old Single Barrel Tasting Notes and Reviews
"Nose: There is a peppery pinch to the spicy nose, which fits perfectly with the dark brooding nature of the beast. The slightly singed toast acts as a perfect counter to the mint and orange rind. Really complex and tempting. Taste: Wow! Loads of everything. As you might expect from the nose. A deep, satin-smooth oak and burnt sugar backdrop allows the malt and rye to have a big say. Lots of vanilla, too. Finish: Here, as it dries, the corn comes into dominance. Some vanilla toffee, too. Comments: Magnificent stuff from Heaven Hill that really is worth hunting for."

| Jefferson's Reserve Bourbon |
|
|
Like the accomplished third President of the US, this bourbon is complex, elegant and sophisticated. Jefferson's Reserve is allowed to age slowly and reach maturity naturally. The whisky has a medium-weight, velvety textured body and a dry, robust palate, one that quickly fills the mouth with the engaging flavors of roasted corn, caramel, toffee and oak.
Nose: Peaches, vanilla, raisins, butterscotch
Taste: An elegant combination of flavors, a very thick body, almost syrupy sweetness, suggesting vanilla and caramel, yet very fruity with hints of dates, blackberry and orange.
Finish: The finish is long, warm and smooth like a fine cognac.

| Jefferson's Small Batch Bourbon |
|
|
This very small batch, handcrafted bourbon has been aged in the heart of metal clad warehouses to accentuate the extreme temperatures that Kentucky is blessed with, forcing the bourbon to expand deep into the barrel and pull out the prevalent flavors of the wood. These flavors of vanilla, caramel and assorted fruits assure an incredibly smooth taste and finish. There is no easier bourbon whisky than this polished Kentucky gold.
Nose: Fresh and smooth with velvety peach and vanilla.
Taste: Very soft start, smooth and sweet with hints of berry and citrus.
Finish: Delicate and warm with a return of vanilla, cream and toast.

| Jim Beam Black Bourbon |
|
|
Jim Beam Bourbon originated by Jacob Beam in 1795, is no ordinary bourbon. Jim Beam Black has been aged in new, charred, white oak barrels; charcoal filtered and then bottled at a full 90 proof.
This makes it smoother and more flavorful than other premium bourbon whiskies. |

| Jim Beam Devil's Cut Bourbon |
|
|
As bourbon ages, a portion of the liquid is lost from the barrel due to evaporation—that's the "Angel's Share." After aging, when the bourbon is dumped out of the barrel, a certain amount of whiskey is left trapped within the wood of every barrel.
We call that the "devil's cut."

| Maker's Mark Bourbon |
|
|
Tasting Notes
COLOR
Ideal:
Rich and brilliant – see-through amber, but with a flame orange glint that tells of the warmth to come.
Traits of Imperfection:
A pale and straw-like appearance, light amber (indicating improper or insufficient warehouse aging and/or heavy treatment with activated carbon during filtering just prior to bottling, in an attempt to remove unwanted characteristics caused by poor fermentation or distillation). A deep, dark amber (indicating excessive barrel aging).
BOUQUET
Ideal:
Full, yet delicate; well-rounded; possessing a distinctive caramel aroma of the charred oak with a hint of vanilla; pleasant and inviting.
Traits of Imperfection:
Rough and somewhat coarse, raw, not unlike rubbing alcohol. A sweetness of cooked grain (indicating improper warehouse aging). A perfume-like fragrance. Flat and thin; uninteresting and non-aromatic (indicating improper or insufficient warehouse aging and/or heavy treatment with activated carbon during filtering just prior to bottling, in an attempt to remove unwanted characteristics caused by poor fermentation or distillation). A strong caramel dominance; out of balance and with a detectable aroma of burnt wood chips (indicating excessive barrel aging).
FLAVOR
Ideal:
It would be presumptuous on our part to suggest what the ideal flavor should be, even though you can be sure we at Maker’s Mark have a rather strongly held opinion on the subject. On the other hand, we all agree that a truly great bourbon must be:
Rich in flavor, yet soft on the palate.
Distinctive and complex, yet possess the refinement and balance found in a finely crafted malt or cognac.
Refreshing and pleasant.
And the enjoyment is always an experience of the total.

| Maker's Mark 46 Bourbon |
|
|
The folks here at the Maker's Mark Distillery have been handcrafting one thing, one way, since 1958. But, the fact is, innovation has been part of our heritage since Bill Samuels, Sr., first experimented with soft red winter wheat to create Maker's Mark® all those years ago. Well, curiosity finally got the best of us all over again.
Not too long ago, while staying true to the craft and heritage of Maker's Mark, Master Distiller Kevin Smith began some lengthy "trial and error" to create something new and different. After more than a few failures and bad ideas, Kevin reached the conclusion that the foundation for any new whisky we create should ultimately be our original whiskey – fully matured Maker's Mark. So, with the help of barrel maker Brad Boswell, Kevin started over. Together, they began even more experimentation, realizing that their new creation simply couldn't come from artificial flavors, but, instead, it had to come naturally from grains and wood. In December 2009, one taste of the new product said it all – "We finally got it right."
Aged - To maturity
Proof - 94
Aroma - Pleasant, sweet, toasty oak nose with caramel overtones. More intense aroma without an alcohol nose.
Taste - Rich, creamy seared-oak flavors; caramel and vanilla notes linger on the front of the palate, but it is still soft enough to hold on the tongue even at 94 proof.
Finish - A big mouth-watering oaky finish. Long with a little spice, staying forward on the palate without the bitter bite found in older whiskies.

| Old Charter 8 YO Bourbon |
|
|
Wine Enthusiast rating: 89
Medium Gold in color, this shows a complex, well-balanced nose that shows both dry, peppery notes and a rich honey-vanilla sweetness. The body is medium, leaning toward full, and the palate follows the nose being at once dry and sophisticated with some tingly spicy notes, and also showing a sweet side full of toffee, vanilla and a rich oakiness. The finish is very long and very satisfying.
This is a well-crafted Bourbon with a balance that's hard to beat. Sip it neat, on the rocks, or in a Manhattan cocktail.

| Old Fitzgerald Bourbon |
|
|
Made with a "whisper of wheat" according to a time-honored formula, Old Fitzgerald is critically acclaimed for its distinct, complex nose and taste. By substituting wheat for the more traditional rye in the grain recipe, or mashbill, Old Fitzgerald finishes with a rounder, softer profile. “Old Fitz” is a storied brand, with roots going back to the 1870's when it was first produced for rail and steamship lines and private clubs.
Named after John E. Fitzgerald, who founded his first distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky in 1870, it has been called "the most elegant Bourbon produced in Louisville- indeed Kentucky."
For decades it has been made at its new home in Kentucky and is reportedly a big hit amongst the gentry and business sorts, who associate it with Kentucky's most important people and traditions.

| Old Forester Bourbon |
|
|
Old Forester 86 Proof is made in the same classic, time-honored style originated by George Garvin Brown in 1870. Twice-distilled, this remarkable spirit is crafted using an exacting grain recipe of corn, rye and malted barley. Old Forester is richer in rye than most bourbons, resulting in a uniquely full, rich, genuine character.
Adding to this uniqueness, Old Forester is fermented with a proprietary yeast strain that is still grown fresh daily at the distillery.
Old Forester is aged in charred oak barrels that are handcrafted at the distillery’s own cooperage. No other Kentucky bourbon company makes its own barrels. One sip and you’ll know why.
Finally, Old Forester is bottled when Master Distiller Chris Morris judges the whisky ready. Mr. Morris just knows, and for that, bourbon lovers everywhere can be grateful.

| Old Forester Birthday Bourbon |
|
|
Old Forester has released this year's expression of its Birthday Bourbon in honor of George Garvin Brown, the founder of Old Forester, America's First Bottled Bourbon™. Launched six years ago to commemorate Brown's birthday on September 2, Old Forester Birthday Bourbon is a premium, historically award-winning bourbon and a must-have for bourbon enthusiasts.
This year’s vintage release of Old Forester is crafted from a 98-barrel batch of 97C19. These barrels were stored in the small warehouse "B" and larger warehouse "J," on their fifth and eighth floors respectively. These upper-floor locations exposed the barrels to a great degree of heat during the summer months, resulting in a rich, complex maturation profile.
Color Chocolate brown, with orange highlights.
Aroma Rich caramel layers with a combination of milk and dark chocolate notes, dusted with brown sugar. A sprinkling of brown spice and a hint of orange peel round out the sweet character.
Taste Warm, rich and slightly sweet with deep fruit and dark chocolate notes, balanced by a touch of coconut and soft oak.
Finish Intense and long, with a smooth ending.
